From A Risky Joke to Yes

We met on a dating app. Anwyn's first words were, "Tell me a risky joke."

Our first date wasn't exactly fireworks. Allen wasn't what Anwyn expected, and neither of us was sure there was a spark. But soon, it became clear we had found the kind of flame we had to grow over time. And those closest to us watched, excited to see us go from unsure to inseparable.

We jumped into adventures together, and the fun started immediately. Whether it was Allen cheering at Anwyn's first marathon, taking spontaneous trips to Port Douglas and Malaysia, or even Allen losing his passport during a solo trip, we shaped our days around each other. Amidst the excitement, we were experiencing something deeper, a safe space for meaningful conversations and a realisation that we could rely on each other completely.

With the future so clear, there was one thing left to do. Anwyn had no idea how our lives were about to change when we went on a hike along the Grand Canyon track in the Blue Mountains. There, surrounded by the quiet beauty of the valley, in our solitude, Allen asked the most important question of his life. And with more certainty than she could have ever imagined on that first date, Anwyn said, "Yes."
